Jazelle has been creating Street Paintings since 2004 for outdoor festivals and promotions. A European tradition thought to have originated in Italy during the 16th century, Jazelle puts a modern twist on the tradition of copying existing works of art by creating an original art piece in her own unique style. The art is specially designed for each client and sponsor. Her work is known for its vibrant saturated color which is achieved through the careful process of hand rubbing the chalk pigment into the surface of the asphalt.

“Street Painting is a slow creative process where the art emerges over a span of days. The art is created in an otherwise ordinary public venue which then transforms it into a beautiful and magical environment. The ability to interact with viewers throughout the process makes it feel very much like performance art. The idea that the artwork is temporary, that it will be washed away at the point of completion appeals to me as a reflection of the impermanence of life itself”. -Jazelle
